In The City was a yearly music industry event that saw bands playing all over Manchester every night. Over four days, bands at the start of their careers looked to this as a huge opportunity to get themselves recognised.
In 1998, not only were Coldplay booked, but also Elbow and Muse. All would have been playing in tiny venues to only a handful of people – all completely unfamiliar with their music.
For all three bands, that would, of course, change!
